This was a good work out for the Warriors against a pacy Hearts side who although young were a good test at this stage of the season. Hearts had the better of the early exchanges and Alistair Roy just failed to get on the end of a Robbie Buchanan cross in the first minute. The visitors took the lead in the 20th minute following excellent work by Harry Paton and Roy who picked out Andy Irving in the middle to slot home.
With both teams making changes in the second period the game at times lacked cohesion but a lovely deft chip by Vinnie Berry lifted the match out of the ordinary when he equalised in the 70th minute and he completed the scoring with a half volley from just outside the box in 86 minutes. Hearts almost equalised a minute later when Rory Currie hit the post after persevance by Ian Smith created an opening. One thing to note is that there were two ex-Young Maroons in the Hearts ranks in Aaron Reid and Russell McLean and both did well in the game.
