This game was originally scheduled to be a Stirlingshire Cup match but when the competition was cancelled both managers agreed to play a friendly on the arranged date instead. Stenhousemuir started in the main with their reserve squad with Dumbarton playing a far stronger starting eleven.   Dumbarton took the lead when Michael O’Bryne reacted first to a whipped in Stevie Murray cross and they doubled the lead when Iain Chisholm scored from close range after Liam Cusack had an effort saved at point blank range by Scott Bennett. The Warriors had few clear cut chances though David Caine had a couple of decent efforts and Scott McManus also tested the keeper.
