Stenhousemuir Football Club is immensely grateful to the Tryst Children’s Gala Day who have recently made an incredibly generous donation to the club to help sustain us during the current Coronavirus lockdown.

A spokesperson from The Gala Day Committee said, “We are happy to be able to help out in the community in any way. The work that The Warriors are doing on a daily basis right now is incredible, and as a community we need to back initiatives like this to ensure that our most vulnerable residents have the support that they need.”

Iain McMenemy, Chairman of Stenhousemuir FC said, “This incredibly generous donation came right out of the blue, but was a very welcome surprise.  We are all grateful to the Gala Day Committee for thinking of us and supporting us.  Our mission statement at the club is to be a professional football club with the community at its heart, and it is clear that the individuals involved in the Gala Day Committee share this philosophy too.  Not only are we grateful for the financial support, but e have the pleasure of working alongside many members and supporters of the Gala Day group through our Community Help Initiative.  Many different groups are coming together to support each other and the wider community and it is great to see.”

“Right now, the football club faces an uncertain future due to all football operations closing down for the foreseeable future.  However, whilst we may not be able to provide football for the community at the moment, we have diverted our efforts to serving local people in a different way, through our Community Help Initiative.  This donation will allow us to continue to support our local communities with any help needed during this difficult time.

“The donation means we can deploy our full-time community staff on to this project and keep our van delivering food, shopping and support to local people during this crisis.

“We now have over 140 volunteers out there shopping, walking dogs, picking up prescriptions and keeping in touch with over 100 local people who need a bit of support.  As well as this, we now deliver over 900 school meals as well as dozens of food parcel deliveries.  The initiative continues to grow and we recently added another new service where we cook and then deliver homemade meals to vulnerable households.  Over 200 meals are now being delivered each week. This is all coordinated using our full-time community staff so this donation is helping to make it all possible.”

“Whilst the current pandemic is a cause of great concern to us all, the way that our community is pulling together is inspirational, and the positivity that this will bring will be a legacy that we can all be proud of.”
