50 + Walking Football at Stenhousemuir Football Club
'Get Back In the Game'
At Stenhousemuir Football Club, Warriors in the Community we provide 2 Walking Football sessions a week for our over 50s participants at Carronvale House. We have our regulars that turn up week in and week out its fantastic to see that football can bring people together as a socialising aspect. Since I’ve took the position as Senior Community Coach at Stenhousemuir FC the numbers have been magnificent, there has not been any less than 12 participants since I’ve been in post. The most I’ve seen turn up for one session is 18, which shows how popular our Walking Football programme is. I have a plan in place to grow the programme and see more over 50’s participate in physical activities. I have also promised the guys I would get a Walking Football game arranged for them once a month, and on the 26th of January I will take charge of my first walking football match which will be against Heart of Midlothian FC at Ochilview Park.
My main aim for 2017 is to open up a new walking football class and perhaps a female only class which doesn’t need to be football based; it can be circuits / fitness sessions / mixed sports. Also in 2017 I will be holding a Walking Football Tournament which will be on Sunday 16th of April. This will be a fantastic occasion for all Walking Football teams involved.
Our classes are held at Carronvale House (Winter Venue) twice a week on a Monday 10am-11am and a Thursday 10am-11am and each session costs £3.50 with teas, coffees and biscuits provided after the session.
