Stenhousemuir Women 3-0 Bonnyrigg Rose Ladies

Scottish Women’s League One

Ochilview Park

11.02.24

Vickerman and McLarty link up yet again as Stenhousemuir make it 10 games in a row unbeaten in League One cementing another Warriors Winning Weekend.

Stenhousemuir came into this game in flying form having won their last four games with 19 goals scored and zero conceded.

They faced a Bonnyrigg Rose side who were also unbeaten in their last four league matches which set up for an exciting encounter at Ochilview

It was a cagey first start to the match with both teams getting frustrated leading to a booking for each side respectively for separate incidents

Stenhousemuir had most of the ball, but the Bonnyrigg attackers were on their toes pouncing at any given opportunity which was shown on a couple of occasions.

The away side won the ball close to goal but shot narrowly wide to keep the game at 0-0.

Just a few moments later, Bonnyrigg forward Niamh Naysmith found herself one-on-one to put the away side ahead if not for a brilliant save from January’s Player of the Month Rosie Alexander.

But with 10 minutes to go until the first half concluded, on came a flurry of Stenhousemuir goals.

The first came from a link-up that we know all too well this season; a pin-point Amy Mclarty met the head of Rachel Vickerman who nodded the hosts into the lead.t the head of Rachel Vickerman who nodded the hosts into the lead.

Five minutes later, some great football between Vickerman and Martinez eventually led to captain Jude Connolly being played through on the right-hand side and she blasted one into the top-left corner. Was it a shot? Was it a cross? All we know is that it put the Warriors two goals to the good.

And the girls weren’t done yet as Megan French found herself free by the penalty spot and slotted in to continue her fine goal-scoring form.

What a way to end the half.

The teams came out for the second half, and it was all Stenhousemuir.

Lucia Martinez had two great attempts on goal from free-kicks- with one rattling off the bar.

Vickerman almost got on the end of yet another McLarty corner, but the away side managed to clear after a scramble in the six-yard box.

Megan French also found herself in the book after that scramble and I don’t think anyone can tell you why.

Bonnyrigg had a couple of chances to get back into the game; Sophie Douglas struck the post on the half-volley after getting the break of the ball.

The Warriors introduced some fresh legs to see the game out.

Kara Reid, Gemma Boal, and Jennifer Campbell were brought on to freshen up the midfield whilst Josie Cawood came on to bolster the attacking options.

Unfortunately, shortly after coming on, Josie collided with the advertising wall and had to be replaced by Lucy Sullivan who took an unlikely turn up front which she definitely seemed to enjoy.

The final whistle went, and the Warriors keep on pushing towards the top spot in League One.
