First of all, we would commend the Scottish FA for their efforts to find a compromise solution to a complex issue within the structure of our game in Scotland. The Conference League proposal is one which has both positives and negatives and seeks to find compromise to the competing challenges of player development, league finances, pyramid reconstruction and the integrity of competition.
Having looked into the proposals in detail, the club hosted a positive meeting with our supporters, as well as considering the feedback from our Supporters Trust.
We can confirm that we will be voting against the proposal at the forthcoming Scottish FA AGM.
We don’t believe the case has been made that the introduction of a new Conference League at Tier 5 in the pyramid will have enough of a positive impact on player development that it outweighs the negatives regarding the integrity of the competition.
