Stenhousemuir Football Club is pleased to complete the signing of
Abdelhak Massougahou
The Club can confirm the signing of 18 year old French winger Abdelhak Massougahou (Abdel) on a deal to the end of the season. The left sided attacker has been in training with the squad for a couple of weeks and has impressed during that spell including playing in a bounce match vs Dundee United 2 weeks ago. The Club received international clearance for the signing earlier today meaning he is eligible for this Saturday’s game vs Edinburgh City.
Abdel signs from Jeanne d’Arc de Drancy, a french football club based in a suburb of Paris who participate in the Championnat National 2, the 4th tier of French football. Last season the Club participated in the Championnat National for the first time in the Club’s history. Abdel comes to Stenhousemuir through the same route as Willis Furtado, who went on to become a cult hero at the Warriors. Furtado made 32 appearances for the Club scoring 7 goals in season 2016-17 before completing a move to Airdire and then Raith Rovers. Warrior’s supporters will be hoping Massougahou can have a similarly positive impact to that of his fellow countryman.
Abdel is the Club’s 5th signing this transfer window after the additions of McBrearty, Wilson, Spence and Moore. In what has been a busy window the Club has also extended the contracts of Tiffoney, Blair and Armstrong and secured Connor McBride on loan to the end of the season.
Davie Irons discussed his latest signing,
“We first looked at Abdel a couple of weeks ago during training and at a bounce match we held against Dundee United. He immediately caught the eye. He is an excellent dribbler, a young player that will get fans off their seats, he excites me. His first thought when he receives the ball is to go at his opponent and get past him and he has shown he can finish when given the chance too.”
“His attitude has been first class since coming into the Club and he has settled in really well which is a credit to the other players in the squad as there is a bit of a language barrier there. He traveled with the team up to Elgin last Saturday so he already feels part of the squad. It’s another good addition to the team, a completely different type of player to what we have, and he will give us a different dimension and complement the attacking qualities we already have in the squad. I am really looking forward to continuing to work with him and to see what he can add to the team. Hopefully we can play our part as a Club in helping him achieve his undoubted potential in football”
Welcome to the Warriors Abdel.
The Club wish to thank Drancy FC for their cooperation with this deal.
Make sure you are at Ochilview this Saturday to cheer the team on in what could be Abdel’s Stenhousemuir FC debut.
