Forth Valley Football Academy

Forth Valley Football Academy (FVFA) is based at Stirling University. The FVFA was established as a 3 Year pilot project in July 2013 and represents the first Regional Football Academy in Scotland.  Our Academy aims to establish itself as one of the leading youth development programmes in Scotland, offering talented young players the chance to progress and develop further in football leading on to the very highest level within the game.

The FVFA has been established in partnership with The Scottish FA as part of a National Performance Strategy aimed at developing players of an elite level at 11s-17s that can benefit the National Game.

The FVFA was established with three professional clubs- Falkirk FC, Stenhousemuir FC and East Stirlingshire FC in partnership with the Scottish FA and is now progressing into its second year. Stirling University are also a key partner within the programme with our Academy based on the campus. As well as state of the art facilities the University also provide staff with expertise in the delivery of a number of key areas in a young player’s development.

The FVFA programme is strategically managed by a Management Board consisting of representatives of each of the partner clubs, the Scottish FA and Stirling University. This is led and coordinated by FVFA main staff members and the programme is delivered by a combined team of talented Coaches, Sports Science, Strength and Conditioning and Medical Staff and personnel.

Head of Coaching

(Full-time; fixed-term 2-Year contract)

The Forth Valley Football Academy (FVFA) is a collaborative project between the Scottish FA and Falkirk, Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire Football Clubs.  It operates an ‘Elite’ talent development programme for identified male footballers aged 10-17 years.  These players benefit from a coherent, systematic and progressive programme that covers fundamental aspects of performance development including coaching: game play: strength & conditioning; sport science support; education and welfare provision; and lifestyle management guidance.

The FVFA invites applications for the high profile position of Head of Coaching. The role presents an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in an innovative regional academy programme supported by the Scottish FA.

Operating from its base at the University of Stirling, this person will hold responsibility for the design, management, implementation and evaluation of the Academy’s Player Development Programme that supports talented players aged 10-17 years.  This programme is supported by the Scottish FA’s Club Academy Scotland scheme.

The successful candidate must hold one of the following Scottish FA recognised awards:  UEFA Pro Licence, UEFA A Licence or Elite Youth A Licence, and preferably have Academy Coaching Experience.
