Statement from the Board

The Board is disappointed to announce that Gordon Thompson has stepped down as a Director and Chairman of Stenhousemuir Football Club.

Gordon has served as Chairman for the past three years, having been elected to the position in January 2015.

Gordon said, “This was a very difficult decision as the club has been an important part of my life for a number of years, however, due to the increasing demands of my business interests, I have found it more and more difficult to give the club the time it deserves.  I would like to thank the club and my fellow Directors for the opportunity afforded me and will continue to support the club where and when I can.  I leave wishing the Club well and much success for the future.”

David Reid, Vice-Chairman added “We are all sorry to see Gordon go as he has been such a positive influence on the club for such a long time.  Gordon took on the role as Chairman when the club was going through a difficult financial phase and we needed the direction and support that only someone with Gordon’s experience could provide.  Even back then in 2015, we were aware that Gordon’s business interests were growing and expanding, but despite this, he agreed to take on the added responsibility of the Chairmanship of the club.  This showed his total commitment to Stenhousemir FC, and we will forever be grateful for Gordon’s leadership through these difficult times.  I should point out that he did say initially that he would do the job for a year, and here we are three years later!

“We are delighted that Gordon’s business interests are continuing to do well, and we wish him much success for the future.  Gordon, and of course his dad Sam who is a regular at the club, will always be welcome at Ochilview.”

As Vice-Chairman David Reid will take over the responsibilities of the Chair on a temporary basis until a successor to Gordon is appointed.
