Player Update

The 2015/16 season drew to a close just under two weeks ago after a dramatic final day of matches that saw the Warriors lose their last match of the season at home, but retain their place in League 1 after Stranraer defeated Cowdenbeath as Stair Park.

This of course meant that the league has lost both Forfar and Cowdenbeath who have both been relegated to League 2.  We wish both teams all the best for successful seasons ahead.

Stenny’s final match echoed the team’s season in many ways with shades of good football on show at times, followed by moments where some weak play and poor decision making cost the team to lose soft goals.

However, with the team picking up 10 more points than last season, and with the club’s future secure for another season in League 1, the focus now shifts to looking at the season that lies in front of us.

Manager Brown Ferguson and his management team have already begun the task of entering into discussions with the current crop of players and of course some potential new additions, to start building them team that will take to the field for the Warriors next season.

We’ll keep you informed as best we can during this period, bearing in mind that players will need time to make decisions about where their future lies.

The first update is below:-

Players moving on:-

Jamie Barclay, Jon Robertson, Antz Marenghi, Euan Murray, Jason Scotland – each player has served the club well and we wish them the best for the future.

Fraser Eddington, Lewis Small and Dean Shaw are currently out of contract, but have been offered the chance to continue training with the club during pre-season unless they agree terms elsewhere.

Players who have signed new deals:-

Ciaran Summers, Liam McCroary, Ross Meechan, Mark Gilhaney

A number of other players are in discussions regarding new contracts and further details will be announced as soon as possible.
