Stenhousemuir Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bobby Tasker, a proud local lad who enjoyed two spells at Ochilview and was a true fans’ favourite.

Bobby first joined the Warriors in 1955 from Shettleston, where his talent had attracted the attention of several clubs.

His ability soon earned him a move to First Division Queen of the South, followed by a spell at Falkirk, before he returned to Stenhousemuir for the 1960/61 season. That campaign remains a special one in the club’s history, with the team scoring a club record 99 goals. Across his two spells with the Warriors, Bobby made 132 appearances and scored 26 goals.

One supporter, on hearing the news of his passing, described him as one of the best wingers ever to play for the club and, above all, a very nice person.

After leaving Ochilview, Bobby moved to Derry City as part of a group of five Scots who regularly flew over for matches. During his time there, he was an Irish Cup runner-up. On returning from Ireland, he was reinstated to the juniors with Bo’ness United.

Ireland held a special place in Bobby’s heart for another reason. In June 1962, he married his beloved wife Bessie in her home village of Rathmullan, having met her at a wedding. He later persuaded her to move to Stenhousemuir, and the couple renewed their vows in Rathmullan after 50 years of marriage.

Away from football, Bobby was an electrician by trade. One of his great passions was the bagpipes, which he learned to play as a youngster and which could often be heard when he was at home.

Bobby Tasker will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all at Stenhousemuir Football Club. The club’s thoughts are with his loved ones at this sad time. Bobby’s Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes and St Bernadette RC Church, Larbert on Wednesday 7th January 2026 at 10am.
