Match Report
Injuries and suspensions have given Swifty a selection headache and has resulted in an emergency 7 day loan for a backup goalkeeper. Dean Wilson joins the squad from Partick Thistle and starts on the bench.
Peter Urminsky, Jordan Tapping, Callum Yeats, Adam Corbett, Daz Christie and James Lyon all miss out.
It was the home side that had the first shot of the match inside a minute, but Div Wilson was never troubled.
And it wasn’t long before they had their next strike on goal, this time though, it was driven wide.
Into the 5th minute and the visitors haven’t fund their stride at all. Nothing is going right for The Warriors and they just sit back and wait for the next attack.
Forfar picked up the first corner of the match on 9 minutes, but the heavy wind is being a nuisance, and the ball drifts out of play before coming back into the box.
Big chance of the hosts to take the lead on 12 minutes as Steven Warnock had a free header in the 6 yard box but somehow managed to head wide.
Straight up the park and Stenhousemuir pick up back to back corners which were easily dealt with between the Forfar defence and goalkeeper.
Nothing much for The Warriors to cheer in the first 20 minutes, which is summed up with a booking for Ross Forbes for an unknown reason.
The visitors have started to get back into the game with Brown, Miller and Anderson all playing neat passes. No clear chances yet though.
Forfar have a good chance with a free kick on the edge of the box following a cubic foul by Mikey Anderson. Craig Slater drilled the ball over the bar though.
HALF TIME: FORFAR ATHLETIC 0-0 STENHOUSEMUIR
Into the second half and it’s already been pretty much the same. Forfar holding up the ball well but have no answer to the stubborn visiting defence.
Into the 53rd and Stenhousemuir have their first shot on target. Mikey Anderson caught the defence and drive forward, teeing up O’Reilly. His shot was weak though and was no trouble for the home keeper.
60 minutes gone and there’s not much from either team. Forfar continue to control the match but their inability to get passed Nicky and Sean is keeping the score level. Even when they do, Div Wilson is on hand to preserve the clean sheet.
A breakaway in the 63rd minute between Tam Orr, Adam Brown and Euan O’Reilly saw the latter try and cut the ball back for the former, but was well held by the keeper.
SUBSTITUTION: Spencer Moreland makes his 2nd appearance for The Warriors as he replaces Nat Wedderburn. Mikey Anderson drops to right back and Mikey Miller moves into midfield as a result of the change. [65 minutes]
Tam Orr has a good chance to open the scoring. His curling shot went just wide of the post. Moments later Div Wilson makes another good save to keep the scores level.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Robert Thomson and Cammy Graham come on for Thomas Orr and Ross Forbes. [75 minutes]
The final 15 played out as you’d expect. Both teams had chances to take the win, but a point each is a fair reflection of the match.
The Warriors did have a final corner with 5 minutes to play with headers from Nicky and Sean both being blocked. In the end, a volley from Cammy Graham bounces wide of the post.
A few late chances for Forfar, but this game was destined to finish 0-0.
