Our Walking Football group continues to champion goodwill around the festive season of giving.

Walking Football Scotland has partnered with Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland to help grow Walking Football around the country, as well as provide vital health checks on those that need it. As their slogan says, this ensures ‘no life is half lived’.

This year, for its annual fundraising campaign, Walking Football Scotland chose to raise money for Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland. Every walking football group throughout the country was challenged with conducting their own individual fundraising campaign through the form of bake sales, festivals or simply club donations.

As always, our Stenhousemuir Walking Footballers rose valiantly to the challenge!

During the month of October, our walking football group decided to raise funds through bake sales. At both weekly sessions, players brought cakes baked by themselves and family members, and sold them for £1 per slice. Football followed by cake – what’s not to love? One satisfied member acknowledged that “the cakes were of an extremely high standard”.

By the end of October, the group had raised a fantastic £600 which was duly donated to CHSS. The group is now considering a sponsored diet for their next venture!

But, as ever, the walking football group wanted to go one step further. Stenhousemuir FC & Warriors in the Community are holding a selection box collection ahead of the Stenhousemuir Christmas Markets on Sunday 3rd December. They all contributed together and bought 60 selection boxes to hand out to kids at the markets.

“We just enjoy actively helping the local community, especially around Christmas time”

Overall, we have now received 123 selection boxes to donate to the Stenhousemuir Christmas Market, which will be hosted by our good friends at the KLSB Community Group. You can read more on them here.
