We’re pleased to announce the first signing of the pre-season with Matty Aitken agreeing to join us from Forfar Athletic.

The 25 year old striker is no stranger to Ochilview having featured for fellow League Two sides Albion Rovers and Elgin City over his career, picking up 37 goals in his 180 appearances.

He’s featured against Stenhousemuir 15 times, picking up four wins, netting once and assisting with three more.

Warriors boss Gary Naysmith spoke to the website this afternoon.

“I am delighted that we have managed to add Matthew to our squad for next season. When Myself and Brown did our recap of last season, one of the first things that we Identified was that in certain games, we lacked a real physical presence at the front end of the pitch and Matthew will certainly give us that. He is a player that I made an enquiry about in January but at that time I was told he was unavailable. In both matches that we played Forfar last season since I became manager, Matthew was a real handful for our defence so I am delighted that we have managed to get the deal over the line and that he is now our player. We also felt that it was important that we found someone that will compliment Matty Yates for next season and we are confident that that is exactly what Matthew will do.”

Matty will meet up with his new team mates in a few weeks as preparations for next season get underway.
