Introducing Andrew Thomson the club’s new Senior Community Coach and Head of Women’s and Girls Football

 

Stenhousemuir FC is pleased to announce that Andrew Thomson has joined the club in a full time capacity to strengthen the community coaching programme. Andy has been involved with the club for many years having joined the Warriors Academy a the age of 15. He spent the next 4 years at the club progressing through the Academy and into the U20s before moving on to play in junior football. Andy however remained involved with the club in a coaching capacity and is now in his 5th year coaching at Warriors in the Community.

Having recently graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a first class honours degree in Sports coaching the club moved quickly to add him to the full-time community coaching staff to add further quality to the staffing team at the club. Andy is a Children’s Level 4 and C Licence qualified coach who has also worked with the Celtic International Soccer Academy, Forth Valley FA pre-academy and the Falkirk Community Trust.

Andy will continue to oversee the delivery of Women’s and Girl’s football and will now also add the Young Maroon programme to his remit while contributing from a coaching perspective to all community programmes.

Chief Executive Jamie Swinney explained the reasons behind the appointment;

‘Our community programme is absolutely at the heart of the club and now more than ever before we want to enhance and develop the programme and once again make it the very best community programme in Scotland. Andy was already a key member of coaching staff within the programme and now that he has graduated I felt it was a really positive move to bring him into the club full-time and add to the quality of personal we already have in Will and Danny’ 

Andrew Thomson spoke of his delight at joining the Warriors full-time;

‘I am delighted to have joined the full time staff at Warriors in the Community and look forward to contributing further to what is already a successful programme. I have been involved at the Warriors for a number of years now where I have saw first hand some of the great work that the club has done in the local area and I am excited to start working alongside the rest of the staff at the club’
