Match Report

Our first away day of the league season ended in a disappointing defeat to Kelty Hearts.

The first half dealt a bitter blow in the opening stages, and despite our efforts we still trailed at the break.

The opening minute delivered a psychological mountain to climb after Scott Allan opened the scoring for Kelty. Johnston’s low cross into the box found Allan in acres of space, which allowed him to fire his shot into the top right corner. 1-0.

We almost had an instant reply to Kelty’s goal in the 3rd minute when Matty Yates found himself in great space in the box, but his effort rocketed back off the bar.

The next 20 minutes became a bit scrappy with neither team being able to create any clear cut chances.

We carved out another opportunity to equalise in the 35th minute when Jacobs’ mis-kicked shot appeared to trouble Kelty’s keeper, however Adams managed to squeeze it around the post.

We went into half time trailing and eager to get ourselves back on level terms, however another Kelty goal dealt a sucker punch to that aim. We did come into our own towards the end of the second half though and created a good few opportunities to score.

Kelty were quick off the mark once again and struck gold 10 minutes after the restart. Ross Cunningham’s quick feet shifted the ball affording him space in the box to slot his shot low into the bottom corner to double the home side’s lead. 2-0.

Matty Yates had a fantastic chance to pull one back from 20 yards out as a result of a free kick, but his effort in the 65th minute went high over the bar.

Jamieson made some incredible saves in the interim periods to deny Kelty an even further advantage.

We had a series of corners in the closing five minutes which allowed us to bombard the Kelty box, however their defence remained solid and gave us little to aim at with players throwing themselves on the line to stop our shots.

Corey O’Donnell had arguably a great chance for us in the 91st minute when his effort looked like it may have just sneaked in, but Kelty keeper Adams kept it out. Nat Wedderburn had a similar chance to Corey’s, with his being from closer range, but it agonisingly sailed over.

This was a difficult result for us to take today, however we must now turn our focus to next Saturday when we take on Alloa Athletic in another away fixture. Warriors, please make sure you come and support Gary and his team next weekend!

Report by Louise Davidson

The Warriors face off with Kelty Hearts for the fifth time in their playing history this Saturday.

This weekend we travel to New Central Park across the Firth of Forth to face Kelty Hearts for the first time in two years.

Kelty were promoted to League 1 in the 2022-2023 season and since their promotion have turned in solid performances that have seen them sit comfortably in the middle of the table.

Having only drawn with Montrose last weekend, manager Michael Tidser will fire up his team to fight for three points. Gary and the boys will be equally as charged up to maintain our brilliant start to the League 1 campaign and bring home another three points. This sets the scene for an interesting clash.

The last time our teams faced off, Kelty were the victors in a 1-0 win. This saw them remain undefeated in all competitions where they face us- a statistic we will be looking to rectify!

Please make sure you support the Warriors on Saturday by joining us at New Central Park for our first away game of the league season!
