Match Report
The Warriors fought valiantly against the Wasps but they stung us in the 68th minute to hold out a 1-0 victory.
The match kicked off with a series of corners for both teams but resulted in little gain for both sides.
We nearly opened the scoring in the 9th minute when Aitken’s cheeky low shot almost caught out Alloa keeper Morrison, but he reacted well to save the shot.
Matty Aitken had arguably the best chance of the half in the 27th minute when O’Reilly played an exquisite ball through to him. Aitken was one v one with the keeper, however Morrison managed to save the shot.
Alloa also had an amazing chance to pull ahead when Thomson’s pass into the box found onrushing Cawley, who fired his shot wide of the target.
The opening 45 minutes proved to be a difficult start to the afternoon with all still to play for in the second half. Ultimately three points wasn’t meant to be for us, and we would suffer our second defeat on the road.
The second half began once again much like the first, with multiple corners that went begging.
We had an incredible chance to break the deadlock in the 58th minute when Meechan’s ball found Wedderburn in acres of space outside the box, but his goal bound shot took a deflection and bounced out.
In the 68th minute Connor Sammon’s goal made all the difference. A fantastic cross in from O’Donnell found Sammon unmarked in our box and his mis-kicked shot crept in past DeeJay. 1-0.
The final chance of the half came for us in the 84th minute when Yates’ corner found the head of Meechan, but he headed just wide.
Our second away day of the league season ended in an undeserved defeat. We had some really fantastic opportunities to score with the team looking strong. We move onwards though and now turn our focus to Cove Rangers next weekend. Warriors, please make sure you come to Ochilview Park next Saturday to support Gary and his team!

Preview
The Wasps will be looking to sting us for their first win of the season, whilst we aim to pick ourselves up after last weekend’s defeat.
This Saturday we face Alloa Athletic, with this being the first time in 7 years that we will have battled with the Wasps in League 1. We will be determined to grab ourselves all three points.
The game at the Indodrill Stadium should prove to be a high scorer based on past results, with there being over 65 goals scored across 23 meetings with the Wasps.
The last time these two teams faced off was last year in the Viaplay Cup when Alloa went on to win 3-1 with goals from Sammon, Buchanan and Neill edging out Brown’s goal for the Warriors.
Former Alloa player Adam Brown will be seeking to get on the scoresheet once again against his previous team. Brown made 50 appearances for the Wasps before he made the switch to the Warriors in 2021.
This is an afternoon which is poised to make an entertaining game. Please make sure you come and support Gary and the boys! Ticket information can be found via our social media links.
