Table toppers, Stenhousemuir make the 160-mile trip north tomorrow where they take on Peterhead in a 1st v 2nd encounter in the cinch League 2.
Stenhousemuir come into the match off the back of a 1-0 victory at home to Stranraaer where we continued our record-breaking run and made it 12 victories in a row. The victory was secured thanks to a Kyle Girvan own goal from a Ross Meechan cross.
The victory did not come without its costs though, Nicky Jamieson was forced off midway through the second half after feeling his hamstring and will likely be out for three weeks. Nat Wedderburn will also miss the match tomorrow after being sent off for a challenge in the dying stages of the match and despite an appeal from the club, he will serve the first of his two-game ban.
Assistant manager, Brown Ferguson previewed tomorrow’s game saying “We’ll prepare as always, we’ve got a couple of players on the treatment table, but we go up with a big lead in the table. We’ll just look to get that 13th victory and we know if we do that we’ll be in a good position.”
Gregor Buchanan also previewed tomorrow’s game saying, “They’re a good side with talented players but so are we, just off the back of our 12th win in a row, so we’ll prepare for the match as normal.”
The Warriors bolstered their squad during the week with the addition of defender Ben Stirling on a short-term deal after leaving Edinburgh city.
Darren Jamieson also extended his contract which will keep him at Ochilview until 2026.
Peterhead have not been in the best form with just two wins in their last nine. Their last victory came at home to Dumbarton just over two weeks ago.
The two sides have already met twice this season. The first encounter came up at the Balmoor stadium where a stalemate played out on the second game of the season. It was a game where the two defences ruled each other out.
The other clash between the sides came at Ochilview where the Warriors were 2-0 victors. Mikey Anderson opened the scoring midway through the first half and just five minutes later, Adam Brown scored a goal of the season contender to seal the victory.
Stenhousemuir slightly edge the head-to-head record with 17 victories to Peterhead’s 14. There have also been nine draws played out in the 40 games.
The Warriors will have to be aware of Kieran Shanks and Connor O’Keefe who have 19 goal involvements between them and will provide the Warriors defence with a threat.
