Here at Stenhousemuir FC and Warriors in the Community, we are all about the selfless nature of volunteers. We rely on willing hands to ensure our club continues to run smoothly – keep an eye on our social media channels in the month of December to hear more from them.

For today, meet Bill Reid. Bill has been involved with Stenhousemuir Football Club for many, many years and he has done a bit of everything around our club. I spoke to Bill today as he was carrying out some much needed and essential maintenance around Ochilview. From tidying up litter, weedkilling and gardening, Bill has done it all.

We have Bill to thank for the painting of the Norway Main Stand at Ochilview, as well as the girders in the away terracing – still looking like they were painted yesterday! Bill even had a short stint as kitman, ensuring the cleanliness of the dressing room. The boot room, however, was his fortress. He did not let anyone (including the captain!) into that domain. He personally hand-cleaned every boot after a match to make sure they were ready for the next game, and to keep the dressing room floor clean!

Bill is an ever-present at Ochilview, working hard, maintaining the ground – including sections hidden from view. Bill just “likes things to be tidy”.

It is a family affair for Bill however, as his son, David Reid, sits on the Board of Directors and the Warriors in the Community Trustees Board. It was actually David who started Bill’s involvement at the club, when he asked him to come along and help out with some odd jobs.

Bill gives up his time to come and do the selfless and necessary work around Ochilview (even on a cold & wintery November morning) and for that, we are very grateful.

Thank you, Bill.
