The Warriors return to Ochilview on Saturday as we host The Spartans in the cinch league 2 in our second encounter against the Edinburgh side this season.
The Warriors will be hoping to build on their impressive victory up in Forfar last week where we won 3-1. Stenhousemuir came from behind as Stuart Morrison opened the scoring before a Euan O’Riley goal was sandwiched in between a Matty Aiken brace to seal the 3 points for the Warriors.
Assistant manager, Brown Ferguson previewed the game against The Spartans saying “We played them earlier on in the season. Scored late on to get the win. It was a good day, but we know that Saturday will be a difficult match as they are a good team.”
Matty Aiken also previewed the weekends game saying “We need to keep going in the direction we are going in. We have an important run of games coming up and we are playing the teams around us now, so we really need to try and get the 3 points”
The Spartans are coming into this match off the back of a good 2-1 away at Clyde last weekend.
The Spartans have enjoyed a good start to life in league 2, they are currently in 3rd place, a point higher than the Warriors who sit in 4th. However, The Spartans played a game more than Stenhousemuir.
The Warriors inflicted The Spartans only defeat of the league season so far when James Berry sealed the 3 points for the Warriors late on at Ainslie Park in the 97th minute.
We have only played The Spartans 3 times ever, winning 2 and drawing 1. But Saturday will be the first ever time the sides have faced off at Ochilview.
The Warriors will have to be weary of The Spartans’ top goal scorer, Rhys Armstrong who has 4 goals and 2 assists in all competitions
