On Monday this week, this match was viewed as the match where Stirling Albion could clinch the league title and automatic promotion back to League 1. Come 7:30pm the following day, everything changed.

Dumbarton vs Stirling Albion was postponed for the 4th time, meaning that tomorrow’s derby doesn’t have the possibility of the champions being coronated at the end.

Talking about Tuesday night, the Warriors were in action themselves, with a long trip to Elgin City following last month’s postponed. The managerless side look certain to take the 3 points at home before Ross Forbes scored another stunner in the 91st minute to snatch a point for the Warriors. That result sees us sit 5th with just 4 games left to play.

Tomorrow’s match sees us host Stirling Albion with a lot on the line. The Warriors battling to get into the promotion play offs spot, whilst the Binos know that a win coupled with a positive result on Tuesday night against Dumbarton will see them confirmed as champions.

The three fixtures between the sides this season have all went Stirling’s way. One 3-0 and two 3-1s have been the results. In terms of playing at Ochilview, you’ll have to go back to the 2nd of January 2018 for the last time the Warriors defeated the Binos at home. Goals from Martin Scott and Ross Meechan saw the Warriors lead deep into stoppage time before Darren Smith grabbed a consolation goal.

The battle to finish in the promotion play-offs has been tense with 4 teams vying for 2 spots. Annan Athletic and Forfar Athletic currently sit in 3rd and 4th respectively, whilst the Warriors and East Fife sit 5th and 6th. 7th placed Stranraer currently sit 6 points behind the Warriors and the Fifers and still have a chance at a play-offs spot but with just 4 games remaining, it would be a challenge for the Blues.
