The Warriors capture Callum Tapping

The club is delighted to confirm the signing of Callum Tapping on a 2 year deal. The midfielder joins the club after his contract with Forfar Athletic came to an end last month. Tapping is Davie Irons 4th new signing ahead of the new season and takes the squad to 14.

Tapping was part of the Celtic Academy before signing for Tottenham Hotspur in June 2009. He spent 2 years at White Hart Lane playing for the Under 18s and reserve squad before coming back up north to join Hearts. He made his debut at Hearts away to Celtic in January 2013 and played 30 times for the Edinburgh side also. After leaving Tyncastle he joined Queen of the South before moves to Brechin City and Forfar. In total he has made 197 professional appearances in his career to date. Callum also represented Scotland at both U19 and U21 levels.

Manager David Irons commented on his latest recruit.

‘Callum was a player myself and Kevin identified early as a key target and someone we wanted at the club. We have been in dialogue with him for a number of weeks now and I am thrilled to secure him for the new season. He had other offers but wanted to come to Stenhousemuir and challenge to win the league which is the ambition we share. We now have fantastic options in the middle of the park and Callum compliments those that we already have signed, he will be an important player for us. He is at a stage in his career where he will thrive at the right club and we want him to be part of the future so to sign him on a 2 year deal shows both out intentions and his. I am delighted with the squad we have assembled so far and can’t wait to get back to the training ground to prepare for the seasons starting’

Tapping, will be a familiar face locally as he stays in Larbert and is also a Director and coach of Pro Performance Academy based at Dunipace. He also started playing his football at the Warriors as a Young Maroon so he was now made the full journey from Young Maroons to the first team. Our new signing spoke to Warriors TV about joining his local club

‘Delighted to finally sign for Stenhousemuir FC. Being a local boy I always hoped to play for the club at some point. When the gaffer and Kevin got in contact and explained the clubs ambitions I knew from then the time was right to join. I am now looking forward to meeting the boys and getting ourselves ready for hopefully a successful season.’

Welcome to the Warriors Callum.

Stenhousemuir will kick off the League 2 campaign away to Albion Rovers on the 17th October before a home game against Stirling Albion the following Saturday. The Betfred Cup is due to start on 6th October but the draw has not yet taken place.
