Welcome back McBrearty

Stenhousemuir Football Club is delighted to welcome Conor McBrearty back to Ochilview.

We have agreed a deal to take Conor on loan from St Mirren for the remainder of the season and he will be available for selection immediately. The 19 year old defensive midfielder who can also play at centre back became a key player for the Club in League 1 last year making 27 appearances scoring 3 goals. His first 2 professional goals came against Falkirk as the Warriors defeated the Bairns 4-2 in the Scottish Cup. McBrearty also notched an important goal away to Dumbarton in the league.

Boss David Irons made a defensive midfielder a priority signing with McBrearty topping the wish list after making an impressive impact last season. He has featured heavily for the Buddies Reserves again this season and played an important role in helping the Colts side reach the 4th Round of the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Cup where they lost to Wrexham after impressive victories over East Kilbride, Dumbarton and Stirling Albion.

Speaking about his first signing of the January transfer window Irons said;

‘We were looking to bring in a defensive minded midfielder and Conor fits the bill, he is exactly the type of player we were looking for. He did very well here last season and showed he was more than capable of doing well at this level so I am naturally pleased to be able to bring him back into the Club. What’s more, he is a great character and he got a warm welcome back into the dressing room before training last night.’

‘We know we need to strengthen and there are several others players we are speaking to. We are focusing on improving the spine of the team and will explore every possible avenue to do this. Its fantastic to have Conor signed so early in the window and to have him available for Queens Park away tomorrow. I hope to be able to add a few more players to the squad this month.’

Get along to Hampden tomorrow and welcome Conor back to the Warriors. Queens Park have slashed prices to £5 for this game and we have spaces available on the supporters bus.
