A busy Ochilview crowd on Friday night witnessed the Warriors continue their good form in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.
Their was a real buzz of excitement and anticipation in the crowd as Stenhousemuir welcomed Waterford FC, our Irish Premier League opponents for this important 4th round tie. Having already defeated the 8-in-a-row Welsh champions The New Saints in the previous round, there was a strong feeling of optimism in the dressing room.
Davie Irons men did not disappoint. In a classic all or nothing cup tie, the game was played end to end from start to finish, with both sides taking the lead at some point in the game. A world class free kick from Scott McLaughlin, followed by an Alan Cook pass and Hopkirk clinical finish saw the game level at 2-2.
With 4 minutes of added time, it took until 93 minutes and 30 seconds for McGuigan to get the winning goal.
The crowd on Friday was electric and the atmosphere amongst the best we have seen at Ochilview.
A big thank you to all supporters who came along and got right behind the Warriors. A shout out to those who tuned in to the match on BBC Alba.
On to the quarter finals.
