Stenhousemuir FC is pleased to confirm Tiwi Daramola as the first recipient of the Terje Eriksen Scholarship award.
Tiwi who graduated from our U19s Warriors in the Community squad after joining the club at 8 years old has now signed his first professional contract with the club officially making him a first team player until June 2020. Tiwi has recently returned from a loan spell at Bo’ness United and is also a member of the Scottish Schools U18 squad.
The Terje Eriksen Scholarship fund was set up in the name of Honorary Club President and huge Warriors supporter Terje. He traveled from Norway 45 times to watch his beloved Warriors and was a really popular figure at Ochilview Park. Terje sadly passed away last year but his legacy will continue through the fund for years to come. He is fondly remembered by everyone at the club who had the privilege to meet him.
Ivar Eriksen, his brother kindly donated a sum of money to the club to create a scholarship programme for young aspiring players in Terje’s name. This programme will run for 5 years consecutively with Tiwi the first youngster to be inducted into the programme. The aim of the fund is to provide a pathway to professional football and to the Warriors first team to a talented youngster each year.
CEO Jamie Swinney commented;
‘We are delighted to be able to announce Tiwi as our first Terje Eriksen Scholar. Tiwi joined the club almost 10 years ago and has been part of our community set-up ever since. I am sure Terje would be be very happy to see his legacy supporting both a young player and of course the club be loved so much. On behalf of the football club I would like to place on record our deep gratitude to Ivar and the Eriksen family for their magnificent support and backing to allow Tiwi the opportunity to sign as a professional player for the Warriors’
The club will continue to look for young players that we can bring into the squad in the coming years to be part of this tremendous scholarship programme. Thank you Terje
