Stenhousemuir Football Club can confirm the signing of centre back Andrew Munro from Forfar Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The Warriors had a transfer bid accepted by Forfar late last week and the club has now agreed personal terms with the player as he signs an 18 month contract keeping him at Ochilview until June 2020. The 26 year old defender started out his professional career with Raith Rovers before he moved onto Arbroath making 28 appearances. From there Munro joined Forfar in 2016 where he has played a total of 61 games. Munro joined up with the squad tonight and could make his debut this Saturday against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup.

McMenamin spoke of his delight at landing his latest signing;

‘We identified Andy as a key target a few weeks ago and have worked hard to get a deal through as quickly as we could. Andy is a strong and aggressive defender with plenty experience at this level and he is a player who can make a difference both now and going into next season so we are really pleased to get this one over the line.’

‘He will come straight into the squad for Saturdays game and I am confident signing a player of Andy’s quality will give the squad a boost too. Stuart Balmer has worked with him already which is another positive and he speaks very highly of him. I think the fans will like what they see, he is a winner, a leader and was our number one target for this position going into the window’

Munro provided his thoughts on the move;

‘It has been a long process, over a week since we started the conversation. I am just happy to get it done. I know Stuart from working with him previously and he was a big factor in my decision to come here’

David Johnstone, Owner of YES explained his reasons for partnering up with the Warriors;

‘Stenhousemuir are my local team and I went to many games when I was young and was a ball boy for a few seasons in the early eighties. As a local company we want to see local clubs do well and we are pleased to have played our part in helping the Warriors sign Andy Munro. We look forward to working with the club in the future and supporting its growth and development’

The club continues to pursue targets identified by the management team and we are hopeful of adding another 1 or 2 before the end of the month.
