Founded in 1975 and based in Kelty, Fife, Kelty Hearts have grown as a club rapidly and successfully to become one of the first clubs to be promoted through the SPFL through the pyramid playoffs.

Initially playing as a Junior club in the Fife region, Kelty progressed into the East of Scotland League in 2017, where promotion was secured to the lowland league in 2018.

Despite winning the Lowland League title in 2020, Kelty were denied the opportunity to participate in the pyramid playoffs ue to complications associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Entry to the SPFL was finally secured in 2021 after being awarded successive Lowland League titles, the Fife side saw off first Brora Rangers and then Brechin City in the playoffs.
