Match Report

A resounding Warriors performance wrapped up all three points against a timid Montrose side.

The first half proved to be docile with neither team looking threatening, there were a few chances for each side though that went begging.

A stunning overhead kick effort for Montrose in the 6th minute looked likely to open the scoring, but Deejay’s quick reflexes denied them the opener.

The only other clear-cut chance in a quiet first half came in the 7th minute from Aitken after O’Reilly’s delicious cross found Aitken’s head, however his effort wasn’t taxing for the Montrose keeper.

The second half proved to be far more exciting than the first with the Warriors on the front foot. Montrose appeared to invite the Warriors’ pressure, and we would reap our rewards for our persistent efforts.

The Warriors had a plethora of chances to open the scoring with O’Donnell nearly poking his effort home in the 76th minute.

We were rewarded for our unwavering persistence in the 82nd minute when tenacious work from Ky Jacobs, who made his return from injury today, crossed a dangerous ball into the Montrose box. Matty Yates was on hand to roll the ball home to tie up all three points and bag his second goal of the season. 1-0.

The Warriors had another sublime opportunity to double their lead when Yates’ long ball over the Montrose defence was picked up by O’Donnell who rampaged towards goal, however his shot was blocked by the keeper.

Another hard-fought Warriors performance has propelled us within 1 point of poll position. On Tuesday night, we compete in the Stirlingshire Cup when we face off with Falkirk for the third time this season. Please make sure you join us for the derby to support Gary and the boys.

Warriors, this weekend we return to Ochilview Park where we battle with Montrose as we search for another victory at home.

This is our second meeting with Montrose this season. The last time we faced the Gable Endies, they wrapped up all three points with goals from Hester, Williamson and Quinn securing a 3-0 victory at Links Park.

As we return to the fortress of Ochilview Park, we are aiming to seal a league victory over Montrose for the first time in 5 years. Our top scorer in this fixture, Euan O’Reilly, will be seeking to get his name on the scoresheet and ensure another win at home.

With 99 goals scored across all meetings between these two sides, we will be desperate to add an hundredth this weekend in front of a home crowd.

Montrose currently sit 7th in the league with 17 points and with only one point separating the two sides, we will be hoping to wrap up three points and push ourselves back to the top of the table.

Please make sure you join us this weekend to support Gary and his team.

Kick off: 3pm on 16th November
