Match Report
Disappointment for the Warriors as a Rangers B dominant display earns the Gers a place in the quarter finals.
The first half proved to be a test of time for the Warriors as Rangers B started off on the front foot right from the whistle. We created a few half chances, but Rangers B team showed their class with two great goals to open the scoring.
We did have the opening chance though, when Tomlinson’s ball found Yates, but the former Rangers youth player’s shot went just wide.
Rangers B found the opener in the 19th minute through Findlay Curtis. Great skill from Lovelace allowed him to cross the ball from the byline to the back post, where Curtis was waiting to tap the ball in. 1-0.
The hosts doubled their lead just before the close of the half when Danilo’s effort from the 18-yard box nestled into the bottom left corner. 2-0.
We mustered a strong Warriors’ performance for a short period in the second half after a lifeline from Alston. However, Rangers B would go on to double their lead and secure themselves a quarter finals spot.
In the 59th minute, further damage to the Warriors fight for a way back was once again dealt by Findlay Curtis. He received the ball and flicked it beautifully past Bilham, then slotted the ball coolly past Deejay to bag himself a brace. 3-0.
Warriors’ top goal scorer, Alston threw a short lifeline to the Warriors in the 66th minute after his audacious effort from 35 yards out troubled the Rangers keeper and made the goalie palm the ball into his own net. 3-1.
The Warriors found a bit of fire for the next ten minutes and looked as though they could find another, but the win wasn’t ours for the taking and in the 92nd minute Rangers capped off a clean performance with another goal.
A corner swung in viciously by Hagi took a slight deflection off the head of Euan O’Reilly and crept into the top corner. 4-1.
This was a difficult defeat to take for the Warriors in Stirling, however we jump straight back into league action on Saturday when we welcome Kelty Hearts to Ochilview Park. Please make sure you come and support the team this weekend.

This Tuesday the Warriors battle for a place in the quarter finals of the Trust Trophy Cup but have to see off Rangers B team to book a trip to Hampden.
This only the second meeting with Rangers B team after we faced them last year in the same competition. Last year we narrowly missed out on a place in the third round after goals from McPake and Lovelace allowed Rangers to advance. Edin Lynch was on the scoresheet for the Warriors but it wasn’t enough to take the team through.
Former Gers youth players Kelsey Ewen and Matty Yates will be aiming to help push the team on to a place in the quarter finals at Hampden against Queen’s Park.
