Stenhousemuir secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Peterhead in the William Hill League One at Balmoor Stadium, with a stunning late strike from Ross Taylor earning the Warriors all three points.
The decisive moment came in the 89th minute, as Taylor produced a moment of real quality, curling a superb free-kick from 28 yards beyond the Peterhead wall and into the back of the net.
Gary Naysmith made two changes from last week’s draw against Queen of the South, with Michael Anderson and Kane Ritchie-Hosler coming into the starting XI, replacing Archie Graham and Ross Taylor.
Peterhead started brightly and had the ball in the net inside seven minutes, but Jason Brown’s effort was correctly ruled out for offside.
The hosts continued to apply early pressure, with Max Barry seeing an effort comfortably gathered by Darren Jamieson.
The Warriors weathered that early spell well, with the backline standing firm under pressure.
Stenhousemuir then began to grow into the game, and Scott McGill came closest in the first half with a strike from distance that deflected wide off Josh Kerr.
Half-Time: Peterhead 0-0 Stenhousemuir
The second half developed into a tightly contested midfield battle, with both sides searching for a breakthrough.
Chances were limited, but the Warriors remained disciplined and organised throughout.
Gregor Buchanan led by example at the heart of the defence, producing a tremendous block in the 80th minute to deny a goal-bound effort.
Moments later, Darren Jamieson showcased his quality with a superb diving save to keep out Craig McGuffie.
With Peterhead pushing forward, Stenhousemuir stayed composed, and their patience paid off.
In the 89th minute, Ross Taylor stepped up and delivered in style, whipping a brilliant free-kick into the net to spark celebrations among the travelling support.
There was still time for late drama, but Jamieson ensured the points would head back to Ochilview with an outstanding one-handed reflex save to deny Aaron Steele in stoppage time.
The victory, combined with results elsewhere, sees Stenhousemuir move joint top of the league once again.
Full-Time: Peterhead 0-1 Stenhousemuir

Stenhousemuir travel north this weekend to face Peterhead at Balmoor Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors make the trip to the north-east looking to return to winning ways following last weekend’s 1-1 draw away to Queen of the South.
It was very much a game of two halves in Dumfries as Stenhousemuir controlled proceedings during a dominant opening 45 minutes and were rewarded for their attacking play when Nicky Jamieson found the net to give Gary Naysmith’s side a deserved lead going into the interval.
Queen of the South responded strongly after the break and levelled the match on 59 minutes, when Kurtis Guthrie found the equaliser to ensure the points were shared at Palmerston Park.
The result leaves Stenhousemuir sitting second in the table, four points clear of Alloa Athletic in third and two points behind league leaders Inverness, although the Highland side do have a game in hand.
Peterhead come into Saturday’s match following an impressive 3-1 victory over Alloa Athletic in midweek.
The Blue Toon took the lead through Kieran Shanks before Craig McGuffie doubled their advantage before the interval.
Peter Pawlett extended the lead just four minutes into the second half, putting the hosts firmly in control.
Alloa pulled a late goal back through Calum Waters, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Peterhead secured all three points.
That result sees Peterhead currently sitting fifth in the table, three points behind Queen of the South in fourth, as they continue their push towards the promotion play-off places.
The last meeting between the sides produced a dramatic 2-2 draw at Ochilview Park.
Peterhead raced into a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Kieran Shanks in the first half and Andrew McCarthy early in the second.
However, Stenhousemuir once again showed the late resilience that has become a feature of their season as Matty Aitken pulled one back before Dale Carrick struck just a minute later to rescue a point for the Warriors in front of the Ochilview crowd.
