Match Report
Stenhousemuir travelled to face Hamilton Academical on Tuesday evening in William Hill League One action and returned to Ochilview with all three points following a hard-fought 1–0 victory.
The win marked a significant milestone for manager Gary Naysmith, who took charge of the Warriors for the 150th time, and sees Stenhousemuir move joint top of the League One table.
Hamilton enjoyed the majority of possession throughout the contest, controlling 60% of the ball, but the Warriors remained disciplined and organised without it.
Despite the hosts registering 11 shots, they were limited to just two efforts on target as Stenhousemuir’s defence stood firm.
The Warriors carried a threat of their own and were efficient when opportunities came their way, recording nine attempts with three on target to secure the decisive goal.
Set pieces proved a key attacking outlet for Stenhousemuir, who forced eight corners across the evening, twice the number won by the home side.
It was a competitive encounter throughout, with 28 fouls committed across the match and three yellow cards shown to each side and a red for Hamilton.
When the final whistle sounded it confirmed an important victory on the road for Naysmith’s side — three points that move the Warriors joint top of League One and ensure the manager’s 150th match in charge ended in the perfect fashion.
