Match Preview by Scott Gallacher, Communications Officer & Reporter
Stenhousemuir make the short trip to Clackmannanshire this weekend to face Alloa Athletic at the Indodrill Stadium in William Hill League One action, with the fixture marking Stenhousemuir’s second away game in a run of three on the road. The game will kick-off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors come into the game after a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Cove Rangers at the Balmoral Stadium.
The deciding goal came from Matty Aitken, who was brought down inside the Cove box early in the second half. The striker stepped up and confidently slotted home the resulting penalty in the 48th minute to secure all three points for Stenny in Gary Naysmith’s 100th league game in charge.
Alloa come into the match following a 1-1 draw at home with East Fife at the Indodrill Stadium.
After a quiet first half, Luke Rankin fired the Wasps in front on 55 minutes, pouncing on a loose ball inside the box. The visitors hit back quickly, winning a penalty just five minutes later, allowing Michael McKenna to convert from the spot.
The last time Stenhousemuir met Alloa this season was in the 2025/26 William Hill League One opener in August at Ochilview, when Stenhousemuir were narrowly beaten 2-1.
Dale Carrick fired the Warriors ahead on his debut after a dominant start, but goals from Steven Buchanan and Kurtis Roberts turned the game in Alloa’s favour. Despite creating several chances, Stenny couldn’t find a second breakthrough, with Alloa goalkeeper McFarlane producing a string of key saves to deny them.
Speaking ahead of the match, manager Gary Naysmith said: “We now play Alloa who throughout the years have been a bit of a bogey team for Stenhousemuir. I think somebody told me today that I think we’ve only won one of our last 15 games against Alloa.
“So, if ever there was a bogey team for Stenhousemuir, it’s Alloa. So, we’ve got to try and put that right.
“They’ve got good players, and if they play their best, we know that we’re going to have a real hard game and that we’ll need to be at our best to try and get the three points.”
