Stenhousemuir Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Christie as Director of Football.
Martin joined the Club as Head of Identification and Recruitment before being appointed Head of Football Operations in 2023, and has since become one of the driving forces behind the transformation of the football club both on and off the park.
His ability to identify, recruit and retain high-quality players, often ahead of clubs operating with significantly greater resources, has played a major role in the success the Club has enjoyed in recent seasons.
The recruitment and development of players throughout his tenure is testament to Martin’s eye for talent, his understanding of the game, and the standards he demands throughout the football department.
As Director of Football, Martin will take on greater responsibility across the entire football operation, overseeing the Football Working Group, leading all first-team recruitment, and shaping the long-term strategic planning behind squad development and football performance at the Club.
This appointment represents a major statement of intent from Stenhousemuir Football Club.
The progress made over the past two seasons has not happened by chance. It has been built through strong leadership, intelligent recruitment, long-term planning and a clear footballing identity.
The Club’s ambition now is not simply to protect that progress, but to build upon it.
Stenhousemuir’s objective is clear: to establish itself as a club capable of competing consistently at the top end of Scottish League One and, should promotion be achieved this season, Championship level, while continuing to build a football structure that is modern, sustainable and ambitious.
Martin’s appointment is central to that vision and reflects the Club’s determination to ensure the foundations that have delivered success in recent years remain firmly in place as Stenhousemuir enters its next chapter.
Chairman Dan Wharton said: “This is a really positive appointment for the club and one we are genuinely excited about.
“Martin has been instrumental in building the squad that has delivered so much for us in recent years, and his contribution simply cannot be overstated.
“He brings real expertise, real ambition, and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed at this level and beyond.
“Giving Martin this platform is the right call for Stenhousemuir, we are a club that continues to grow, and Martin is a big part of how we do that.”
Martin Christie said: “I am delighted to be continuing at Stenhousemuir in the newly created position of Director of Football.
“Having been at the club for almost exactly four years now, it has been incredible to see the progression both on and off the park during that time.
“From being in the bottom half of League Two, to competing in a Play-Off Final for a place in the Championship, the journey has been a fantastic thing to be a part of.
“I was keen to remain here at Stenhousemuir to provide stability for the new managerial team coming in over the summer, and I was delighted that Dan and the board felt the same way.
“Positive discussions showed that a tweak to my role was the right move as we go forward together, and I’d like to thank Dan and the board for their support.
“I look forward to continuing my work with The Warriors and helping to deliver more of the successful days we have enjoyed.”
