Stenhousemuir Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Andrew Shinnie on a one-year contract.

The 37-year-old arrives at Ochilview following his departure from Livingston and brings considerable experience to the Warriors squad, having made 511 competitive senior appearances and scoring 60 goals during a career spanning almost two decades.

Shinnie began his career with Rangers, making two first-team appearances, before gaining regular senior football across two loan spells with Dundee, where he made 35 appearances and scored once.

The midfielder enjoyed an outstanding two seasons with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, scoring 24 goals in 66 appearances across all competitions.

Shinnie recorded 16 goals in 45 appearances during the 2012/13 campaign, earning a place in the PFA Scotland SPL Team of the Year and a nomination for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award.

His performances were also rewarded with a senior Scotland debut, with Shinnie starting in a 2-1 victory over Luxembourg in November 2012.

A move to Birmingham City followed in the summer of 2013, with Shinnie scoring six goals in 73 appearances for the English Championship side before making a further three appearances during a loan spell with Rotherham United.

During his subsequent loan spell at Easter Road, Shinnie scored three goals in 32 appearances and helped Hibernian secure the 2016/17 Scottish Championship title.

Shinnie then made 106 appearances, scoring 10 goals across his loan and permanent spells with Luton Town, playing his part in consecutive promotions. The Hatters earned promotion from League Two in 2017/18 before lifting the League One title the following campaign.

After leaving Luton, Shinnie made 29 appearances and scored three goals for Charlton Athletic before returning to Scotland with Livingston in 2021.

Across his time at Livingston, Shinnie made 165 appearances and scored 13 goals, helping the club win promotion to the Scottish Premiership and lift the SPFL Trust Trophy during the 2024/25 campaign.

Shinnie scored in Livingston’s record-breaking 5-0 victory over Queen’s Park in the Trust Trophy final at the Falkirk Stadium.

During his final season at Livingston, Shinnie moved into a first-team player-coach role after gaining his UEFA B Licence.

The move to Ochilview reunites Shinnie with Marvin Bartley and Neil Hastings. Shinnie and Bartley first played together at Hibernian during the 2016/17 season before later working together at Livingston, where Bartley coached and subsequently managed the midfielder.

Capable of operating across midfield and in more advanced areas, Shinnie now adds further quality, versatility, experience and professionalism to the Warriors squad.

“When Neil and I came into the club, we wrote down the profiles that we felt could enhance the squad. One was another player with experience and professionalism.

“Andrew ticks both of those boxes, having played at the highest level, and as you can imagine, we are delighted to welcome him to the club.

“I’ve had the pleasure of being his teammate and coach before managing him at the end of last season. I really can’t think of a better role model for the younger players in our squad than Andrew.

“On the pitch, his quality speaks for itself. The fact that he can cover a number of positions will also be a great benefit to us for the rest of the season.

“The final and probably most important factor in doing this deal was that I still see the same burning desire and enthusiasm in him now as I did when I first met him in 2016.”

After completing his move, Shinnie said: “I’m delighted to sign for Stenhousemuir. I’m really looking forward to working with the manager and Neil Hastings again, as well as meeting all the players.

“The club is on an upward trajectory and the Championship is a great league, so it’s an exciting time for the club to compete at this level and try to establish itself in the division.
