Stenhousemuir return to what will be a packed Ochilview tomorrow where they take on East Fife in the cinch League Two.
For the Warriors, the job is simple, a victory will deliver the club their first ever league title.
Stenhousemuir will go into the match off the back of four consecutive draws with only two goals scored in their last five matches. The latest draw came away at Dumbarton where a stalemate was played out. Both sides had chances but neither side were able to take them.
Gary Naysmith previewed the match tomorrow saying “We’ll prepare normal, when the day comes it will be about the players being able to manage the occasion mentally. But we know we will need to be at the top of our game to get a result. East Fife have been great since Dick Campbell came in and have not lost since. It won’t be easy, but we will go out and try and win.”
Ross Taylor also previewed the match saying “The win is the aim. It’s obviously going to be a difficult game. East Fife have been great since the new manager came in so it’s going to be a challenge but hopefully, we can get it done next week.”
But the fifers will come hoping to make sure that doesn’t happen. They are hoping for a late push for the playoffs. They are currently only six points off The Spartans in fourth place.
Dick Campbell’s men are the form team in the division and are yet to face defeat since he took over the Bayview club in February, with the team having five victories and three draws.
Nicky Jamieson will miss the match this weekend after having to come off with a hamstring injury at Dumbarton last weekend.
The Warriors have played East Fife three times this season with two wins and one draw. The first came at Bayview early in the season and it was a 2-0 victory. Gregor Buchanan opened the scoring and Adam Brown scored late on after East Fife pushed men forward.
The second match was at Ochilview in December where the Warriors won 2-1. O’Reilly scored inside three minutes, Matty Yates then scored halfway through the first half. East Fife came out in the second half and had a goal chopped off for offside before getting one back through Conor McManus late on. Darren Jamieson was then forced into a wonderful save late on to secure the three points.
The thrid match was in February at Bayview where a 1-1 draw was played out. Ross Meechan opened the scoring early on through a corner before Nathan Austin leveled the match just before half time. The Warriors pushed to get the victory in the second half but failed to get a winner.
East Fife have the better overall head-to-head record with 79 victories compared to Stenhousemuir’s 62. There have also been 38 draws in the 179 encounters.
