Stenhousemuir return to Ochilview tomorrow where they take on Dumbarton for the 3rd time in the cinch league 2 this season.
The Warriors will be hoping to bounce back from defeat in the league for only the second time this season. Stenhousemuir tasted defeat on the road for the first time this season when they were beaten 2-1 by Peterhead at the Balmoor Stadium last weekend. A Hamish Ritchie brace sandwiched in between a Gregor Buchanan header was enough for the home side to get all three points.
Gary Naysmith previewed the match saying “We want to bounce back. It had been a while since we tasted defeat and it’s not nice. We’ve had a great unbeaten run, and we want to try and start another good run and we hope to do that this weekend.”
Kyle Jacobs also previewed the match saying “We have another opportunity to start a new run and that what we want to try and do. Every game is important, Dumbarton are a team that are chasing us down so it’s important that we perform well.”
The Warriors will still be without Nicky Jameson and the suspended Nat Wedderburn tomorrow, however Ross Taylor returns from the illness that kept him out last week.
Dumbarton come into the match off the back of a 1-0 victory up at Borough Briggs away at Elgin. However, that was their first victory in five matches.
But the Sons will come to Ochilview full of confidence as they know they can win here. The last time the two sides met at Ochilview back in August, they were 4-2 victors. It was a game in which Stephen Farrell’s men blew Stenhousemuir away in the first half going in at half time four goals up.
But Stenhousemuir went and won at the Dumbarton Football Stadium in December. A Mikey Anderson shot deflected by James Berry wrongfooted Brett Long and went into the back of the net to seal a 1-0 victory late on in the match.
Dumbarton edge the head-to-head record with 70 wins to Stenhousemuir’s 63. There have also been 31 draws. Stenhousemuir have 37 wins at Ochilview compared to Dumbarton’s 25.
The Warriors will have to be weary of midfielder, Tony Wallace who has 10 goal involvements in all competitions.
