Stenhousemuir made it eleven wins in a row with a 2-0 victory away at The Spartans. Goals from Matty Yates and Matty Aitken sealed the victory.
Stenhousemuir travelled to Ainslie Park off the back of their 10th victory in a row against Forfar. Gary Naysmith named an unchanged lineup to that 2-1 victory.
Stenhousemuir started the match the better of the two teams having some early chances through Adam Brown, O’Reilly and Matty Aitken however only Adam Browns close range effort was able to test Blair Carswell in the Spartans goal.
Midway Stenhousemuir continued to have more of the possession and territory without really testing the Spartans goal.
However, that changed on the 27th minute when Matty Yates tackled James Craigen just outside the box and he hit a looping shot over Carswell into the back of the net to give the Warriors a 1 goal lead
The Spartans thought they had an equaliser just five minutes after Matty Yates’ opener however the linesman had his flag up for offside.
The second half started fairly evenly with both teams having a couple of half chances but neither side were able to test the goalkeepers.
The Spartans had a brilliant opportunity to level the match on the hour mark when Blair Henderson was played through however, he dragged his shot wide of the target.
Stenhousemuir had a couple of great chances to double their lead just after the hour mark. Balls from Mikey Anderson and Adam Brown went rolling across the goal however no marron shirt was there to tap home. Euan O’Reilly had a shot go just wide as well.
Just a couple of minute later Kinlay Bilham found himself free inside the box, he found O’Reilly but again, the final ball was lacking.
Bradley Whyte had curving effort go just wide of the target on the 76th minute that had everyone of a Stenhousemuir persuasion with their hart in their mouth.
Stenhousemuir doubled their lead on the 81st minute when Matty Aitken was played in, he sat down Jordan Tapping and calmy slotted the ball into the back of the net.
The Spartans pushed late on having multiple corners and efforts on goal, however none of the attempts were able to really test Darren Jameson in between the sticks for the Warriors and they were able to seal and important victory and extend the gap at the top of the league to 14 points.
