Match Postponement at Stenhousemuir FC
A spokesman for Stenhousemuir FC said,
“Unfortunately, the match scheduled for Saturday 14th December, Stenhousemuir FC versus Rangers FC, was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions.
“The match was postponed following advice from Police Scotland and safety officials. The Club would like to clarify however, that there has been inaccurate reporting with regards to the reasons for the call-off.
“It was initially reported by the media that there was weather related structural damage to a temporary stand within Ochilview. This was inaccurate. Whilst there was minor damage to a stand, this was not related to the weather and was not the reason for the match being called-off. In fact, the damage was repaired well before the anticipated kick-off.
“The match was called-off due to the high-winds giving cause for safety concerns, and match officials determining that the game would have been unplayable. It is also noted that another match in the local area, (Stirling Albion FC), as well as others in Scotland were also called-off due to the high winds.
“Whilst postponing matches at short notice is always a last resort, the Club must heed the advice of safety officials, match officials and Police Scotland. The safety of players and supporters is of paramount importance and will always be the main factor in determining whether or not matches can be played.
“Both Stenhousemuir and Rangers are in discussions with the league as regards a re-arranged date for this important league fixture, and further details will be provided when available.”
