Stenhousemuir Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signings of defender Callum Penman and midfielder Lewis Hodgkiss from St Mirren until January.
Nineteen-year-old right-back Penman arrives at Ochilview after continuing his development through the St Mirren academy system.
Having started his youth career with the Buddies, he gained valuable first-team experience through loan spells with Linlithgow Rose, Scottish League One champions Arbroath during the 2024/25 season, and most recently Queen of the South.
Penman has already made five senior appearances for St Mirren, featuring in the William Hill Premiership against Rangers, Dundee, Dundee United and Aberdeen, while also registering an assist in the Scottish Cup against Queen of the South.
Across his previous loan spells, he has made 42 senior appearances, providing five assists, and now makes the step up to the William Hill Championship with the Warriors.
Joining him at Ochilview is fellow 19-year-old Lewis Hodgkiss, an energetic and attack-minded midfielder who also arrives from St Mirren.
Hodgkiss began his career with Hamilton Academical before joining the Saints academy. Since then, he has enjoyed senior loan spells with Stirling Albion and Bo’ness United, where he enjoyed an impressive second half of last season.
The midfielder scored five goals and provided two assists in just 11 appearances for Bo’ness United, earning a reputation as a dynamic box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal.
Director of Football Martin Christie said: “I am very happy to be able to confirm the loans of Calum Penman and Lewis Hodgkiss initially until January.
“Callum has previously impressed us in his loans at Arbroath and Queen of the South and, at 19, with two loans under his belt, is the right age to come in and challenge for a first-team place.
“Lewis first came to our attention last season during his loan at Bo’ness where he scored five goals in 11 games from midfield.
“He is pacy and dynamic, and we feel he can add to our midfield options and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop under Marvin and our staff.
“Thanks to Craig McLeish and Allan McManus for their help in getting these deals over the line.”
Manager Marvin Bartley added: “I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with both Callum Penman and Lewis Hodgkiss by St Mirren.
“When taking over the job at Stenhousemuir I identified certain characteristics I wanted to add to the squad and these two both possess them.
“Callum has had two previous loans, the latest being an excellent season with Queen of the South in League One. We now hope to continue his development by giving him the opportunity to play in the Championship.
“Lewis ended last season on loan at Bo’ness with an excellent return from midfield, scoring five goals in 11 starts. He is an all-action midfielder who covers the ground exceptionally well while also having an eye for goal.
“Both Neil and I are looking forward to working with the two players going forward and I must also thank Craig McLeish for trusting us with two players who have tremendous potential.”
Everyone at Stenhousemuir Football Club would like to welcome both Calum and Lewis to Ochilview and wish them every success during their time with the Warriors.
