Stenhousemuir Football Club are delighted to confirm the appointment of Craig Maitland as the club’s new Head of Physiotherapy.
Craig joins the Warriors with over a decade of elite-level experience across professional football and clinical practice.
Most recently Lead Physiotherapist at MacFarlane Physiotherapy in Stirling, Craig previously spent nine years at Heart of Midlothian, progressing through a number of senior roles including Reserve/First Team Physiotherapist, Lead First Team Physiotherapist and ultimately Head of Physiotherapy between 2023 and 2025.
Prior to his time at Tynecastle, Craig worked full-time with St Johnstone as U20/Assistant First Team Physiotherapist and gained valuable early-career experience within the NHS as both a Rotational and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.
He has also held academy roles with Hearts and Hamilton Academical, alongside work at national sporting events including the Scottish International Badminton Championships.
A Chartered Physiotherapist, Craig holds a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Strathclyde, an MSc in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University and an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy from the University of Bath.
He also holds a qualification in Independent and Supplementary Prescribing from Edinburgh Napier University, in addition to specialist certification in Spinal Manual Therapy.
Craig brings extensive expertise in musculoskeletal diagnosis, rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols within elite sport.
He will officially begin his role today (Tuesday 17 February) and will work alongside current club physiotherapist Adele Gandy for the remainder of the season.
Head of Football Operations, Martin Christie said: “We’ve been in touch with Craig for some time and are delighted to be able to bring him in to lead our Physio department.
“Craig comes with a wealth of experience from working at SPFL clubs and we believe it is a bit of a coup to attract him here.
“We have had good success on the park recently but we’re keen to keep improving off the park as well and ensure we are maximising our resources in all areas.
“Adele has stepped up brilliantly since the start of the season and it was important to us that she was able to stay on to work with Craig for the remainder of the season.”
