Stenhousemuir Football Club are delighted to confirm that Gary Naysmith has been named Glen’s Manager of the Month, while Matty Aitken has been awarded Glen’s Player of the Month.
It marks yet another Manager of the Month accolade for Gary, having previously collected the honour in February 2023, September 2023, December 2023, January 2024, February 2025 and October 2025.
For Matty, this is his second time receiving the award, having previously won it in January 2024, and it is also the second occasion that both manager and player have lifted the award in the same month.
January proved to be a memorable month for the Warriors.
The month began with a 2-0 victory over Queen of the South at Ochilview, where Matty opened his account with a composed finish in the 35th minute.
A week later, Stenny produced a dominant display in a 5-0 win over East Fife at Ochilview.
Cup action followed, beginning with a 2-1 midweek victory over local rivals Stirling Albion in the KDM Evolution Trophy, securing progression to the Quarter-Finals.
Four days later, the Warriors turned their attention to the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup and produced a superb 4-0 victory over Championship side Greenock Morton at Ochilview, with Matty Aitken scoring twice – either side of half-time – in the 45th and 80th minutes.
An away trip to Kelty Hearts followed, where Stenhousemuir ran out 2-0 winners at New Central Park, with Matty Aitken converting from the penalty spot in the 18th minute.
A gruelling midweek journey north saw the Warriors narrowly defeated 1-0 by Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the KDM Evolution Trophy Quarter-Final.
The warriors then returned to league action with a 2-2 draw against Peterhead at Ochilview, with Matty Aitken once again finding the net late on, scoring in the 84th minute as Stenny fought back to earn a point.
Across seven matches in January, the Warriors recorded five victories, while Matty Aitken scored five goals, underlining the impact both manager and striker made throughout an outstanding month for the club.
Speaking after receiving the award, Gary Naysmith said: “Although I receive the recognition, these awards are never about one person. The players have been outstanding and they’re the ones who go out there and put the work in every single week.
“The staff behind the scenes also deserve a huge amount of credit as well – the preparation, analysis and detail that goes into each match doesn’t happen by accident.
“I’m pleased with where we are, but we know there’s still a lot of hard work ahead and our focus is on continuing to improve as a team.”
