Stenhousemuir Football Club are delighted to confirm that Club Captain Gregor Buchanan has invoked a clause in his contract to extend his stay at Ochilview Park.
The one-year extension will come into effect in the summer of 2026, keeping the defender at the club until the summer of 2027.
Gregor joined the Warriors in May 2023 and has since established himself as a key figure both on and off the pitch.
To date, the skipper has made 117 appearances in maroon, contributing 13 goals and two assists across all competitions.
The 35-year-old was also an integral part of the Stenhousemuir squad that made history during the 2023/24 campaign, helping the club lift the cinch League Two title, the first league championship in Stenhousemuir’s 140-year history, secured on 6 April 2024.
Manager Gary Naysmith commented on the extension, saying: “Gregor’s extension to his contract has been thoroughly well deserved.
“Since joining the club at the start of season 23/24, he has virtually been an ever present in the starting eleven and he continues to be an excellent captain both on and off the pitch, leading by example.”
Chairman Dan Wharton also commented, saying: “On behalf of the Board, I am absolutely delighted that Gregor has committed his future to the club. As Club Captain, he embodies everything we want Stenhousemuir to stand for.
His experience, commitment and standards on and off the pitch continue to drive the club forward, and the Board are proud that he will remain at Ochilview.”
Captain Gregor Buchanan made further comment on extending his stay at Stenhousemuir, stating: “I’m really pleased to have everything sorted and my future agreed.
“This is a very exciting period in the club’s history and I’m looking forward to continuing to give everything for Stenhousemuir, both on and off the pitch.”
