We had a very comfortable win against a very poor Annan side.
Annan held us at bay until the 41st minute when 16 year old Jack Taylor followed up to score from 6 yards after the goalie could only parry a Jordan McGuire 20 yard shot. 1-0
Less than a minute later a terrific move ended with Kieran Anderson crossing into the box and McGuire scoring from 6 yards. 2-0
Half-time 2-0
The 3rd came in the 50th minute when we were awarded a penalty. The keeper saved well from Jack Hamilton but trialist (McLean) followed up to score.
In the 55th minute Jordan McGuire beat the Annan offside trap to score his 2nd and our 4th of the game 4-0.
We were awarded another penalty in the 65th minute when an Annan player handled in the box and trialist (McLean) stepped up to score from the spot. 5-0.
The rout was completed in the 80th minute when a pass from Anderson split the defence allowing trialist (McKinlay) to score from 8 yards. 6-0.
All in all it was a very easy win with Annan showing very little resistance.
It is pleasing to see that the 1st year additions to the U19’s squad, namely, Docherty, McGuire, Taylor, Anderson and Shaw are shaping up well.
It says a lot for our youth system when 6 of our present U19’s squad have been invited to attend the U18’s Scottish Schools trials during November.
The players concerned are Alan Lawson, Dean Shaw who were in the squad last year and they are now accompanied by Charles Docherty, Kieran Anderson, Robbie Duncan and Jamie O’Grady.
The club wishes the players well and hope that make the final squad.
