Match Report
Stenhousemuir FC U19’s 6-1 Ross County U19’s
We took the lead in the 7th minute when the Ross County goalie picked the ball up from a pass back and Jordan Burns scored from the resulting free kick from 12 yards out.
Ross County equalised in the 12th minute when our defence failed to clear a corner kick with a shot being fired home from close range.
We went 2-1 up in the 18th minute when Jack Hamilton scored with a 12 yard strike from a corner kick.
HT 2-1
The 2nd half was only 3 minutes old when from a corner kick, trialist (McKinlay) increased our lead to 3-1 with a well taken shot swerving it around the keeper.
In the 60th minute we were reduced to 10 men when Jordan Burns was sent off for what the referee deemed violent conduct when he was fouled by a defender and reacted angrily to the challenge.
This only caused our team to increase their efforts and hold Ross County at bay.
Coach, Andy Cunningham, brought on Kieran Anderson in the 78 minute, it was an inspired substitution as his lightning quick speed caused Ross County real problems and it was no surprise when in the 84th minute his pace and crossing ability set Jack Taylor up to fire us 4-1 ahead.
In the 86th minute we went 5-1 ahead when Anderson again beat his fullback with ease and delivered a cross into the box for our recently introduced 2nd trialist to head it passed the helpless goalkeeper.
In the 89th minute Kieran Anderson completed the scoring when he completely ripped the Ross County defence open and fired a shot home from 8 yards giving the keeper no chance.
It was a very comfortable win considering we played 30 minutes with 10 men.
The only downside to the match was the Jordan Burns sending off, he will now miss our next U19 game because of his rash behaviour after being fouled.
