Match Report
The U19’s had a comfortable victory today against Arbroath winning by a 5-1 scoreline.
The U19’s dominated the 1st half having the bulk of the play but not really putting the Arbroath defence under much pressure and anything that went into their box was dealt with easily by the keeper.
Our breakthrough came on the stroke of half-time when Ross Brash scored from close range from a free kick taken by Jordan Burns. This was a deserved reward for Ross as he had dictated our play for the previous 45 minutes and was to continue doing so for the remainder of the match.
The 2nd half was only 3 minutes old when Jack Hamilton hammered in a goal of a rebound from a corner kick to make it 2-0.
Arbroath got on the score sheet in the 53rd minute when the referee to everyone’s surprise awarded them a corner kick when the ball had clearly gone out of play for a goal kick. From the resulting corner the ball got turned into our net giving them an apparent lifeline.
But that lifeline was short lived when in the 56 minute Kieran Anderson smashed a shot from 15 yards into the roof of the net making the score 3-1.
In the 76 minute Jordan Burns put Stuart Love through allowing him to slip the ball home from a tight angle for our 4th.
To finish of the scoring, on the final whistle Love put McGuire through who easily beat the keeper from 10 yards.
It was a very comfortable 5-1 win overall with Sean Diamond hardly having a save to make.
