Match Report

After a hard fought game we managed to gain the upper hand and won by a 3-2 scoreline.

Queen’s Park had by far the bulk of the chances but inspired goalkeeping by Sean Diamond and some rank bad finishing saw us scrape across the finish line.

In the 1st half the game was played at great tempo from both team and in the 3rd minute we fashioned a scoring chance with Jordan Burns bringing out a great save from the QP keeper.

Queen’s retaliated and if it hadn’t been for the quick reflexes of Sean Diamond on two occasions we could easily have been a couple of goals down.

In the 35th minute after a good bit of linking up work between Stuart Love and Jordan Burns, Love hit the bar with the keeper stranded with the ball bouncing to safety.

Just on the stroke of half time Love broke through the defence and beat the keeper from 4 yards.

Ht 1-0.

The 2nd half saw us come under some real pressure from QP and in the 46th minute Diamond made a fine save to deny an equaliser.

The only blemish for our keeper came in the 48th minute when he allowed a tame shot to slip from his grasp and a QP forward prodded the ball over the line for the leveller.

It was all QP after that and it came as no surprise when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 58 minute after sustained pressure when we conceded a foul inside the box. QP duly scored from the spot.

We got back into the game in the 63rd minute when Love equalised after a Burns pass put him through allowing him to score from 12 yards.

In the 81st minute Jamie O’Grady scored with a drive from 8 yards after QP failed to clear a dangerous cross.

From then until the end it was a back to the wall effort to stem the QP tide and the “Young Warriors” were glad to hear the final whistle being blown after 5 minutes of added time.

Last week we got our 1st win of the new season beating Partick Thistle away by a 4-2 scoreline after a half time score of 2-2. Love scored a hat-trick and Burns adding to his total.
