SFL U19's League
It was a case of what might have been against Raith Rovers
U 19’s.
We missed so many chances to wrap this game up and then eventually lost it.
It was a fairly even encounter in the 1st half but the best of any chances fell to the Young Warriors with Jordan Burns and Stuart Love missing a couple of chances that were by their standards very easy.
We took complete control of the 2nd half and it was no surprise when in the 57 minute we eventually scored when Luke Quinn crossed a ball into the box and Stuart Love was flattened by the Raith goalie. Jordan Burns coolly slotted home the penalty.
Our lead was short lived when in the 59th minute Raith Rovers scored with a 25 yard drive landing in the top corner of the net.
Shortly after that the Raith goalie should have been sent off for a cynical foul on Stuart Love when through on the goal. The supporters could not believe that he was only booked.
We then proceeded to pummel Raith for the next 25 minutes but a mixture of good goalkeeping and bad finishing kept the score even.
In 85 minutes poor marking in our defence allowed a cross to come into the box and a Raith forward was left unmarked to hit the winner into the net.
This was a game that we should have won comfortably yet managed to lose which was exactly the same as last week against East Fife when we were cruising at 3-1 up with only 30 minutes left and managed to lose 4-3.
The team will have to sharpen up and also keep its concentration if we hope to improve on last seasons mid table position.
