Stenhousemuir Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Welsh striker Louis Lloyd from St Johnstone on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old joins the Warriors after a career that has taken him through youth football in Wales and England, a prolific spell in the JD Cymru Premier and, most recently, the Scottish Premiership.
Lloyd spent part of his early development with Llandudno and Wrexham before joining the youth setup at Connah’s Quay Nomads. He moved to Shrewsbury Town in 2020 and made his senior debut that November against Crewe Alexandra in the English Football League Trophy. The following season, he scored for Shrewsbury in the same competition, heading home against Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s. He also appeared and scored for Stoke City’s Under-18 side during his development.
Lloyd returned to Wrexham in November 2022. Although he did not make a senior appearance for the club, he joined Caernarfon Town in the summer of 2023, where he established his goalscoring reputation.
Over two seasons with Caernarfon, Lloyd made 77 appearances in all competitions, scoring 31 goals and providing six assists. His record included 25 goals in 64 JD Cymru Premier appearances. He scored nine league goals in his first season and helped Caernarfon qualify for European football for the first time. In the summer of 2024, he made four appearances in UEFA Conference League qualifying as the Welsh side defeated Crusaders on penalties before facing Legia Warsaw.
Lloyd’s second season at Caernarfon brought further recognition. He scored 16 goals in the 2024/25 JD Cymru Premier regular season, including five in his final four matches, to share the Golden Boot with Penybont’s James Crole. He then scored four times in a 5-2 European play-off win over Barry Town United and found the net again in the play-off final against Haverfordwest County. Caernarfon finished fourth in the league, while Lloyd was named JD Cymru Premier Young Player of the Season, selected for the competition’s Team of the Season and named its Player of the Month for April 2025.
That form earned him a move to St Johnstone in July 2025. Lloyd scored his first goal for the Perth club on his first start, against Ross County in the KDM Evolution Trophy. He was part of the St Johnstone squad that won the 2025/26 Scottish Championship title and has since made appearances in the Scottish Premiership.
Stenhousemuir manager Marvin Bartley said: “I’m delighted to add Louis to the squad. He’s another important part of the puzzle for us, and Euan Blondin first brought him to my attention as a forward who fitted the profile we were looking for.
“He can play off the shoulder as a number nine or in a supporting role behind another striker. He offers the movement and pace I want, and he knows where the back of the net is.
“Louis has had a frustrating start to his career in Scotland, but he’s determined to kickstart it here. His outstanding scoring record in Wales earned him the move to St Johnstone. Once we get him up to our fitness levels, I know he’ll be a valuable asset to the squad.
“I’d like to thank Gus MacPherson and everyone at St Johnstone for their help with the loan and for trusting us with one of their young players.”
Louis Lloyd said: “I’m delighted to join the Warriors. The team has made a great start to the season, and I can’t wait to get involved. I’m here to work hard, contribute goals and help keep that momentum going.”
Everyone at Stenhousemuir Football Club welcomes Louis to Ochilview and wishes him every success in maroon.
