Stenhousemuir Football Club is delighted to announce that Marvin Bartley has been named William Hill Championship Manager of the Month for August following an outstanding start to the league campaign.
The Warriors collected ten points from a possible twelve, winning three and drawing one of their opening four Championship fixtures. Eight goals scored and just two conceded underlined an impressive introduction to the division following last season’s promotion.
August began with a 1-1 draw away to Raith Rovers before Marvin’s side recorded successive 2-0 victories over Greenock Morton and Queen’s Park. A 3-1 home win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle completed an unbeaten month in the league.
There was also a memorable afternoon at Ochilview in the Premier Sports Cup, as the Warriors defeated William Hill Premiership opposition Motherwell 1-0 after extra time to secure a quarter-final meeting with Hearts.
Since his appointment in June, Marvin has worked alongside assistant manager Neil Hastings and the wider backroom team to build on the club’s promotion success, with the players embracing the challenge of Championship football.
His opening months have already brought Stirlingshire Cup success and progression through the Premier Sports Cup group stage, followed by a league start that has given Warriors supporters plenty to enjoy.
That momentum has continued into September. Friday’s 1-0 victory away to Livingston extended the unbeaten league run to five matches, taking Stenhousemuir to 13 points and keeping the Warriors at the top of the Championship.
The award recognises an excellent opening month in the league for Marvin and reflects the efforts of his coaching staff and players throughout a demanding start to the season.
Everyone at Stenhousemuir Football Club congratulates Marvin on this thoroughly deserved recognition.
