Stenhousemuir Football Club is delighted to announce that Lewis O’Donnell has been named William Hill Championship Player of the Month for August following an impressive opening month of the league campaign.
The midfielder has wasted little time making his mark at Ochilview since arriving in July, helping the Warriors collect ten points from a possible twelve in an unbeaten start to life in the Championship.
Lewis played his part as Stenhousemuir followed an opening-day draw at Raith Rovers with victories over Greenock Morton, Queen’s Park and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
His standout goalscoring contribution came in the final match of the month, when he struck twice in the 3-1 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Ochilview. With a goal either side of half-time, Lewis helped put the Warriors in control of a result that kept Marvin Bartley’s side at the top of the table.
There was also a memorable cup success during August, with Lewis involved as Stenhousemuir overcame Motherwell after extra time to reach the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals. The midfielder came close to finding the breakthrough himself, striking the inside of the post with a long-range effort before Euan O’Reilly secured the victory.
The award caps an excellent start to Lewis’s Stenhousemuir career and completes an August awards double for the Warriors, with Marvin Bartley also recognised as Championship Manager of the Month.
Everyone at Stenhousemuir Football Club congratulates Lewis on this thoroughly deserved award and looks forward to seeing him continue his progress in maroon.
